This Taco John's opens at 7 am. They don't have a breakfast menu or anything, they just do a brisk trade in tacos and potato oles at seven in the morning. Come on, Marshalltown, you're better than that.
If you're NOT here before the sun rises, it's pretty alright, as Taco John's go. Being "a pretty good Taco John's" is kind of like being the youngest horse at the glue factory, but still. Sometimes the moral victories are the only ones we have in life.
The seats here look new. I'd imagine this place was remodeled recently. It's nice. I don't mind sitting here, if I have to sit anywhere, giving myself deliberate gastrointestinal distress.
Potato Oles are the best, worst thing you can put into your body. They are spectacularly salty, almost always over done, usually dry, and you can't stop shoving them into your stupid, senseless gob.
If your in Marshalltown, need food, and have a flexible relationship with your own self worth, Taco John's is as good a choice as any, I guess. Just, come on. Don't get here at 7 am. -

I have liked this restaurant as long as I can remember. Their tacos are the best in Marshalltown. I highly recommend to anyone. I tell all my friends how much I love the place and I go there as often as possible.

Went to taco johns and order was made incorrectly. When I arrived home the side of nachos cheese was thrown in upside down with cheese spilt over my entire meal.

Awesome food! Great staff. Miss their French fríes but olés are great also. Lots of items available on the menu.

To all the motards complaining that this isn't authentic mexican food...NO KIDDING. It's not supposed to be, it's fast food Tex Mex which beats the crap out of authentic Tijuana cuisine without even trying. We love this stuff and have been eating it for decades, don't like it take yourself to Taco Bell where you belong. It's also not the fried rat "street tacos" that you buy off the truck south of the border, if that's what you are looking for then try El Craphole which is famous for it's authentic mexican food.
